WESTON, Conn. Bill Duesing has been ahead of the organic curve for decades. He has spent the last 40 years as an advocate for organic farming and promoting sustainable living in Connecticut and throughout the Northeast. Saturday, June 2, the author, educator and director of the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA) will give a talk at the Weston Kiwanis Meeting at Norfield Church Parish Hall in Weston beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event was organized with the help of the Weston Sustainability Committee.
On the mornings menu is a discussion around the value of organic farming and a talk about genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in the food supply.
Duesing was the founding chair of the New Haven Ecology Project and its Common Ground High School, situated on a New Haven farm. He was also a founding board member and former president of the Connecticut Farmland Trust. He has spent his career gardening with students of all ages in urban communities in Connecticut.
The discussion begins at 8:30 a.m. at Norfield Church Parish Hall, located at 64 Norfield Road in Weston.
