Their advice? Say goodbye to teak chairs, chaise lounges, hurricane candle centerpieces and navy cushions.
Instead, integrate function, style, color and patterns in ways that personalize and reflect your lifestyle with modern fiberglass ball chairs, brightly-colored poufs, patterned pillows, and lollipop topiaries.
"We suggest never buying a matching set -- of anything," stressed Davies. "You should treat the outside the same as you treat the inside of the house, mixing special pieces that you love and creating dimension by combining materials, colors, textures and pattern."
The two Weston residents say they never go with trend colors. "All the bones of the space are neutral -- just like our interiors," added Rosenthal. "This way nature surrounding your space becomes your artwork."
Spend your money on good neutral pieces with clean lines, and then have fun with your accessories and accent pieces, i.e. side tables, poufs, umbrella’s, and planters.
The two also suggest making sure there is a color flow from the inside to the outside so when you open your doors, the two merge and become one living space.
And for those with families, make sure to include an automatic pool cover, a forgiving coffee table, and lots of woods, fabrics, cements and cement composites.
