Free Concert at Weston Historical Society Event

WESTON, Conn. – A free concert, an antique quilt display and a plant sale are on tap for “A Country Afternoon," sponsored by the Weston Historical Society from 1-5 p.m. June 2.

The event will be at the Weston Historical Society, 104 Weston Road.

The Weston Community Band with 55 members will play music by Sousa, Broadway show tunes, patriotic and popular music. The concert takes place from 2-3 p.m. and will be presented outdoors, so the audience is invited to bring blankets and food for picnics.

An antique quilt show will be on display at the Historical Society’s Barn Museum. The quilts come from different regions of the country with some from the Coley family farm in Weston. There’s an $8 admission fee to view the quilts with proceeds going to the Weston Historical Archive.

Gardeners and plant lovers will enjoy the Heritage Plant sale with a variety of locally grown shrubs and perennials such as iris, astilbe, peonies, black-eyed Susa, ferns and spirea on sale. Potted plants grown locally and from a traditional grower will be available.
