FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- lt's barely September but apple picking season has already begun.

Beardsley's Cider Mill, Shelton: Expect to find Gala, Honeycrisp, Jonagold, Macoun, Cortland and Liberty varieties in early September; Mutsu, Jonagold, Empire, Red Delicious, and McIntosh in early October.
