Easton, Weston Librarians Offer Best Summer Reads

EASTON, Conn. – What are the best books to read this summer? If you go by the best seller lists, the fiction book to read is still “Fifty Shades of Grey,” by E.L. James, part of a three-book erotic novel series.

“We've got 'Fifty Shades of Grey,'” director of the Easton Public Library Bernadette Baldino said. “It’s a hot title for the summer in many ways.”

Baldino said there’s a waiting list for the book but many new titles are available. Among her picks for summer reading are “Tiger’s Wife” by Tea Obreht, a mystery allegory and James Patterson’s “Private Games,” which she said is “about a criminal trying to destroy the London Olympics, so it’s very timely.”

She also suggests Westport author Jane Green’s “Another Piece of My Heart.”

For summer beach reads, she picks Lisa Scottoline’s “Come Home,” Janet Evanovich’s “Explosive Eighteen” and “The Lucky One” by Nicholas Sparks.

Weston librarian Karen Tatarka has her own summer book list, which includes “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern, a fantasy novel for young adults that can be read by parents and their kids, she said.

“The Last Werewolf" by Glen Duncan is another summer pick that has “a fantasy sci-fi bent to it,” she said.
