Greenwich's Central Middle School was deemed safe to open on Monday, April 8, after cracks were found after the 4.8-magnitude earthquake that occurred on Friday, April 5, in New Jersey that was felt throughout the region.
"We are happy to share some good news with all of you," said Greenwich Superintendent of Schools Toni Jones and Central Middle School Principal Thomas Healy.
School officials said that after a thorough inspection on Saturday, April 6, by Gap Mountain Consulting Engineers and the Greenwich Public Schools Facilities Department, approved by the Department of Public Works, Building Inspection Division, Central Middle School has been deemed safe to be occupied again.
School officials said the cracks have not widened, and no new damage or cracks were found.
The school was back to its usual schedule on Monday.
