The event will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 6 at The Pavilion at Sherwood Island State Park. The alternate date is Sept. 20.

Sherwood Island State Park was the state's first state park and the Friends of Sherwood Island State Park is throwing a birthday party by harkening back to the time of its founding.

There will be a strolling barbershop quartet serenading guests, a 1917 Touring car with people dressed in period costume. The day's menu will include special hors' d'oeuvres selections, a 1 1/2 pound lobster, prime rib or grilled chicken with all the fixings, including New England clam chowder, Connecticut fresh corn on the cob, salads and ending with celebratory cupcakes.

There also will be a silent auction featuring the "Best of Connecticut" items, services and experiences from around the state and this year there will be a live auction that includes: "Breakfast with Senator Richard Blumenthal in the Senate Dining Room," a canoe trip for three conducted by naturalist Frank Gallo with Connecticut Audubon in the McKinney Wildlife Refuge and more.
