Westport’s Earthplace To Show ‘A Fierce Green Fire’

WESTPORT, Conn. — The Westport Green Task Force and Clean Water Action Connecticut are teaming up to host a screening of the environmental film “A Fierce Green Fire: The Battle For A Living Planet” at Westport’s Earthplace Thursday night.

Considered the first big-picture exploration of the environmental movement, the film looks at grassroots and global activism spanning 50 years from conservation to climate change.

The screening will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception featuring wine from Organic Vintages and food from Whole Foods and Fountain of Youth. The film will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by a question and answer session with filmmaker Mark Kitchell.

Kitchell is best known for his film “Berkeley in the Sixties,” a documentary about the protest movements of the 1960s. The film won the Sundance Audience Award in 1990, was nominated for an Academy Award and won other top honors.

Tickets for the screening are $7 in advance and $9 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online.

Earthplace is located at 10 Woodside Lane.
