WESTPORT, Conn. A novel signed by Andy Warhol is just one of the more than 80,000 items available for sale during the Westport Librarys 20th annual giant summer book sale, which begins Saturday.
The sale is so large, its held on Jesup Green under large, circus-like tents, and in the librarys McManus Room.
Items for sale include hardcover and paperback books in hundreds of genres and subjects, DVDs, music CDs, VHS videos, audio books, music cassettes and even vinyl records. There will also be a separate tent filled with books, videos and other items just for kids.
In addition to the signed copy of Warhols The Philosophy of Andy Warhol, other collectibles for sale include a 1934 first edition, sixth printing of Graham and Dodds Security Analysis. Shoppers can also find more than a dozen limited edition club titles like the complete eight-volume, three-set edition of Arthur Conan Doyles Sherlock Holmes.
This years sale also features the last donation of unused books from Greenwood Publishing, and a large donation of titles from the estate library of Maxwell Geismar, the distinguished literary critic and author of critical works on Henry James, Mark Twain, Edith Wharton, and other American writers.
The sale even offers something for stamp collectors, who will find United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) stamp albums containing first day covers and un-canceled stamps.
The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday. All items are half-price on Monday and free on Tuesday, with donations of $5 a bag suggested.
There is no admission charge. Payments of cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express will be accepted.
