Weston, Spread Some Cheer at Pediatric Wing

WESTON, Conn. – Westonites will have a chance to make the holidays a bit brighter for children staying in the pediatric ward at Norwalk Hospital.

On Saturday, the Weston Women’s League will hold its annual Gingerbread Holiday Brunch, where kids and parents can create gingerbread houses to donate to children in the hospital.

“We’d like to help brighten the rooms of any children who are in the hospital and help our own children think of those in need during the holidays,” said Heather Pemberton Levy, president of the Weston Women’s League. After houses have been given to all the children, they will be dispersed to adults in the hospital who would especially benefit from a little extra holiday cheer.

There will also be a raffle for custom-made gingerbread houses from area bakeries such as Gingerbitz of New Canaan, Sugar & Olives in Westport and SoNo Baking Company in Westport. A festive holiday cake from Georgetown Cake Shoppe also will be raffled.

The gingerbread houses, valued at over $100, make ideal holiday centerpieces. Proceeds from the brunch will go to The Children’s Connection and the Weston Warm-Up Fund.

The Gingerbread Holiday Brunch takes place at Weston Intermediate School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10. In addition to decorating gingerbread houses, guests will enjoy a full breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausages, muffins and fruit. There will also be holiday crafts, songs by the Weston Middle School choirs, photos with Santa, a visit from Mrs. Claus and a moon bounce house. Feather and tinsel hair-braiding and face-painting also will be available.

Advance tickets are $25 for families, $8 for individuals. The cost at the door is $30 for the family and $10 for individuals.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.westonwomensleague.org or in person at Camelot Real Estate in Weston Center.
