Formed 20 years ago, "Prometheus" is a group of five dedicated performers who explore a broad range of musical repertoire in a wide variety of ensemble configurations. The ensemble includes two violinists, a violist, a violoncellist and a pianist. This performance will also feature guest soprano, Nadine Earl Carey.
The program at the Library will feature a sonata for violin and piano by Claude Debussy, a piece by Steven L. Rosenhaus and a piano quartet by Johannes Brahms.
The pianist, Norman Carey, is the director of the doctoral program in music at the CUNY Graduate Center. Ronald Gorevic is the violist and has had a long and distinguished career as a performer and teacher, on both the violin and viola.
Two brothers, Eric and Roy Lewis, will be playing the violins. Eric Lewis has been a member of the Western Connecticut State University music faculty for over 30 years as teacher, director of chamber music and conductor of the WCSU orchestra. Roy Lewis was a member of the Manhattan String Quartet for 17 years.
On the violoncello, Melissa Westgate is a resident of Redding and has been the principal cellist with the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra since 2000.
The guest artist, Soprano Nadine Early Carey, teaches voice at the City College of New York and her training has been in classical voice as a coloratura soprano.
