The 7 p.m. performance, which will support the theater’s Script in Hand series, will also star Tony Award-winning actress Joanna Gleason, Academy Award nominee Chris Sarandon and Off-Broadway/regional theater actor Brian Carter.
“We are delighted to have this opportunity to celebrate our beloved Script in Hand play reading series with this special benefit reading of ‘Any Wednesday,’ and doubly delighted to welcome the talented Melissa Joan Hart to our Playhouse stage,” said WCP Managing Director Michael Ross. “Proceeds from this benefit performance will allow us to continue to keep these wonderful evenings accessible and affordable.”
“Any Wednesday” follows four characters: John, a millionaire businessman and philanderer who visits his paramour in the executive suite every Wednesday; Ellen, John’s disarmingly innocent mistress; Dorothy, John’s hoodwinked wife; and Cass, a young man who is an irate victim of John’s devious practices.
The show was a smash hit on Broadway in 1964 and was later turned into a movie starring Jane Fonda and Jason Robards.
Hart is best known for her starring roles on TV shows like “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” and “Clarissa Explain It All.” Currently, she stars in and is the executive producer of the ABC Family comedy “Melissa & Joey” with Joey Lawrence.
Hart has also appeared on the big screen in flicks like “Drive Me Crazy,” “Can’t Hardly Wait” and “Nine Dead,” and has starred in a number of made-for-TV movies.
Tickets for “Any Wednesday” are $100, $50 and $25, and include a post-performance reception featuring the cast.
Tickets can be purchased online, by calling the playhouse box office at 203-227-4177 or toll-free at 1-888-927-7529, or at the box office, 25 Powers Court.
