The Historical Society of Easton and the Easton Parks and Recreation Department are co-sponsoring the event. People of all ages are welcome to attend. They can experience loading and drilling with a cannon and interact with soldiers, surgeons, cooks and others involved in the re-enactment.
Members of the Fifth Connecticut Volunteer Regiment are both adults and children who learn and share their knowledge about history. It was founded in 1974 and created to be like the original regiment.
According to re-enactment regiment members, the original Revolutionary War Fifth Connecticut Regiment, which started in 1775, was one of six Connecticut regiments. The regiment lasted only one year because of casualties and illnesses, but formed again in 1777.
Oct. 18 has been set as a rain date for the event. The Bradley-Hubbell Homestead is at 535 Black Rock Road in Easton. Admission is $5 per person, $20 per family, free for children 5 and younger and half-price for Historical Society members.
