Guest speaker Linda Lintier will present "Mindful Parenting: Strategies to Manage Stress and Promote Inner Strength," from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Weston Middle School Library, 135 School Road, Weston, and from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 6 at Westport Town Hall Auditorium, 135 School Road, Westport.
Admission is free to both events and open to all parents.
Lantieri’s presentation will focus on: What would parenting look like if parents experienced less stress and anxiety, had more control over their emotions, and had the space and capacity for reflection before taking action?
The talk will also help parents learn practical skills in:listening mindfully; handling stress and difficult emotions; resolving conflict effectively; balancing life’s demands and challenges; and enriching their parenting experience
Lantieri is a Fulbright Scholar, keynote speaker, and internationally known expert in social and emotional learning, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention. A former teacher and administrator, she has been in the field of education for more than 40 years.
Currently she serves as director of The Inner Resilience Program, which is an initiative that equips school personnel with the skills and strategies to strengthen their inner resiliency to model these skills for young people in their care.
In addition, Lantieri is one of the co-founders of the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning and is the author of "Building Emotional Intelligence: Techniques to Cultivate Inner Strength in Children."
