Easton Library Concert To Celebrate Music Of Irving Berlin

EASTON, Conn. — The music of Irving Berlin, who wrote “God Bless America,” “White Christmas” and hundreds of other popular songs, will be celebrated at the Easton Public Library on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. with a free concert featuring The Two of Us Plus One, a trio of two vocalists and a pianist.

“An Afternoon with Irving Berlin,” sponsored by the Easton Arts Council, celebrates the composer’s 125th birthday May 11, 2013. Berlin died at the age of 101 in 1989.

“We’ll play duos, solos and piano pieces and tell stories about his life,” said Joanne Kant, an Easton resident and a vocalist in the group. She’ll perform with vocalist Wanda Grochowski from Somers, N.Y., and pianist Justine Macurdy from Stamford.

The event is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow for all ages.
