WESTON, Conn. The host and production crew of "Born to Explore," the ABC-TV travel show that received an Emmy nomination for its first season, will celebrate its Season 2 premiere Friday night at La Roue Elayne at Cobbs Mill Inn in Weston from 7 to 9 p.m.
The season premiere, which will be aired Saturday morning on channels 7 and 8, will be shown at Fridays event.
Host and Weston resident Richard Wiese said the premiere episode is set in Chile, where he encounters the countrys only commercial fisherwoman on the high seas in her small wooden boat. Other episodes for Season 2 take place in Namibia, South Africa, Cyprus, England, India, Costa Rica, South Dakota and British Columbia.
'Born to Explore' is an adventure that shows people, places and culture, Wiese said. The most interesting aspect of travel is the people you meet along the way.
The show is produced from an office in Westport and Mercedes Velgot, the executive producer, also lives in Weston.
We have talented people in the area and like to have a family atmosphere around the production, he said. Its nice to be able to produce a quality show from home.
The Season 2 premiere is open to the public, with tickets available at Cobbs Mill Inn. The $25 ticket includes the show, hors doeuvres, pasta, soft drinks and coffee with a cash bar.
