The Zoomobile will entertain and educate audiences with programs presented in partnership with Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection at The Sherwood Island State Park Nature Center.
"While we love having visitors come to us, it's important for us to be active and visible in communities across the state as well," said Gregg Dancho, zoo director. "These programs are designed to engage, educate and inspire audiences of all ages."
Local dates and locations include:
- Wednesday, July 3: 1 to 3 p.m. at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport on the beach.
- Wednesday, Aug. 21: Noon to 3 p.m. at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport on the beach.
In addition to the visits above, the Zoomobile will celebrate Connecticut's Year of the Snake with additional visits to Sherwood Island with a live snake show. The program features exotic, beautiful and fascinating snakes and their relatives from around the world.
The Hot Reptiles: Cool Nights program will explore the little-known world of these prehistoric survivors and introduce families to beautiful and endangered reptiles from around the world.
The dates for the snake program are Saturday, July 20, and Saturday, Aug. 10, at 6 p.m. at Sherwood Island State Park Nature Center.
The Zoombobile is free. Entry fees at Sherwood Island State Park on weekends are $13 for residents, or $6 after 4 p.m., and $22 for nonresidents, or $7 after 4 p.m. On weekdays, the fees are $9 for residents, or $6 after 4 p.m., and $15 for nonresidents, or $7 after 4 p.m.
