Weston Mom Turns Disney Fandom Into Business Venture

WESTON, Conn. – Lyn Milliman is, by her own admission, a Disney fanatic. The Weston resident estimates that she has made at least 40 trips combined to Walt Disney World and Disneyland, plus taken a handful of Disney Cruises and paid visits to Disneyland Paris.

Now she has started a new business to help families get the most out of their own trips to the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s other parks. Milliman launched Mousecalls Disney Vacation Planning in March.

“I kept thinking that there was a need for an unbiased Disney planner because so many people are trying to plan the perfect trips for their families and it can be very overwhelming,” Milliman said in an email. “I have vast knowledge of the parks and resorts and love to share my secrets.”

The Weston resident says her family is “crazy about Disney,” and her resume is proof. She estimates she has made nearly 25 visits to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park, racked up during her time living in southern California. But her favorite is Florida’s Walt Disney World, where she has made at least 20 visits—including twice in a two-month span this past winter.

Milliman stresses that she’s not a travel agent. Before her new venture, she had experience in event planning, technical recruiting, trade show exhibit sales and management, and event invitation design.

Instead Milliman pitches her business as more of an adviser or planner. Her idea is to sit down with her clients—families, young couples and even “empty nesters”—and help them plan out the attractions, restaurants and activities that appeal to them most.

Though Mousecalls is not officially affiliated with The Walt Disney Co., Milliman says she strictly deals with clients who plan to visit the company’s parks or cruises.

“Recently, I was asked to help plan a Universal trip,” Milliman wrote. “Of course, I've been there, but declined because that isn't my specialty or where my passion lies.”
