Fatal Crash: Police Cruiser Hits Person In CT
A person was struck and killed by a Stamford Police Department marked patrol vehicle that was responding to a call for service. The crash took place in Stamford on Wire Mill Road during the afternoon on Wednesday, July 26. The pedestrian, a Stamford resident, was rushed to the hospital where life-saving measures were unsuccessful, said Stamford Chief of Police Timothy Shaw. No further details were made available. A former police officer and beloved musician who grew up in Fairfield County and joined many popular acts on stage is being remembered for his talented guitar playing. New Haven County resident Gary Ciuci of Milford died on Tuesday, May 2 at the age of 69, according to his obituary. After growing up in Bridgeport and graduating from Central High School, Ciuci went on to become a Westport Special Police Officer. He retired from this position before his death. Christmas Crash Kills 3 In West Hartford
Three people died in an early-morning crash on Christmas morning in West Hartford, police said. Police and fire departments rushed to Simsbury Road near Timberwood Road, where they found two vehicles had collided around 6:50 a.m., township police said. Despite life-saving efforts, two occupants were pronounced dead at the scene while the third was rushed to an area hospital, where they, too, died, authorities said. The identities of the victims had not been released as of 1:20 p.m. The crash remains under investigation.

Five Hospitalized Investigating Hazmat Situation In CT Home
Several police officers in Connecticut were hospitalized following a hazmat situation at an area home, authorities announced. In Hartford County, police responded to conduct a welfare check in Windsor at approximately 11 a.m. on Plymouth Street. Upon arrival, police said that officers were met by “some type of noxious substance,” which left several with difficulty breathing and painful throats. A Connecticut high school was evacuated after a bomb threat was made targeting the building, authorities announced. In New Haven County, a threat was made targeting the Hamden High School through a 911 call at around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, school officials said. Law enforcement agencies in the region are cautioning area residents to be aware of a scam involving individuals who have been spoofing police department numbers and demanding cash. Hit-Run Crash Under Investigation In Region
One person was injured during a hit-and-run crash in Western Massachusetts. The incident took place around 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, on Exchange Street in Chicopee, according to 22 News. The news channel reported a vehicle hit a parked car and then left the area. Police told the news channel the vehicle, with the driver and passenger inside, were caught a short distance away. One of the suspects was taken to the hospital with injuries but the injuries are said to be minor. The crash is under investigation. No word on any arrests.
