Race For State Senate Seat Marks First Political Run For Ex-Lamont Aide Nick Simmons
This may be Nick Simmons' first political race, but he is not a newcomer to politics.
The State Senate District 36 candidate, brother to Stamford Mayor Carolyn Simmons, was born and raised in Greenwich and now calls Stamford home.
The district comprises Greenwich, North Stamford, and portions of Stamford, New Canaan, and Newfield-Westover-Turn of River.
He left a brief career on Wall Street to teach middle school math in Harlem.

Search engine giant Google paid homage to Eunice Newton Foote, a scientist, inventor, and women's rights advocate, on what would have been her 204th birthday Monday, July 17 with a Google Doodle.
Foote, who was born in Connecticut (in the town of Goshen in Litchfield County), and died in Lenox, Massachusetts, was the first person to document what we now call the "greenhouse effect." Google said Foote "planted the seed" for climate change awareness more than 160 years ago.

Family Of Woman Charged In Missing Mom Case Says She Has Been 'Treated As Guilty'
Two years to the day that a Fairfield County mother, Jennifer Farber Dulos, went missing, the family of a woman charged in connection with her death says they are seeking justice.
In a statement released on Monday, May 24, the family of Michelle Troconis said it has suffered two years of injustice toward Michelle.
"Michelle is an amazing woman, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, who has been treated unfairly, contrary to what the American justice system is supposed to be about: With freedom and justice for all!" they said.
