Numerous People Rescued After Residential Fire Breaks Out In Fairfield County Numerous residents were rescued from an apartment fire in Fairfield County. The fire started around 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 5, at 1130 Williams St. in Bridgeport, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport. According to Appleby, the first arriving units reported fire on the second floor which had extended to the third floor. A second alarm was called on arrival based on the life hazard and the number of people who needed to be rescued from the upper floors by firefighters, Appleby said.
