Monroe Resident Killed In Crash With Oil Tanker Driven By Bridgeport Man A 29-year-old Fairfield County man was killed after he crashed into the back of an oil tanker. Patrick Mezick, of Monroe, was killed around 8:11 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, on Ortner Drive, just north of Route 145 in Westbrook, said the Connecticut State Police. According to state police, for an unknown reason, Mezick, who was traveling southbound swerved and struck the tank/trailer portion of the truck that was traveling northbound. Woman Killed In I-95 Crash In Connecticut A 48-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-95 that blocked the roadway for hours. The crash took place around 7:39 p.m. Sunday in the area of Exit 64 in Westbrook when the driver of a 1978 Jeep traveling south, swerved hard to the left causing the vehicle to roll over and strike the median, said Connecticut State Police. New West Nile Cases Detected In Norwalk, Stamford, Danbury Public health officials announced five more Connecticut residents have tested positive for West Nile Virus, including three in Fairfield County.  The Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH)  said Thursday that the new cases bring the total number of residents infected statewide to 15. Three of these cases involved residents in Danbury, Norwalk, and Stamford, the department said.
