Two Families Displaced By Quick-Moving Stamford Fire Two families have been displaced following a quick-moving blaze in Stamford, officials say. Stamford Fire Department officials say they observed a column of dense, black smoke in the area of Shippan Avenue and Cove Road on Tuesday, Oct. 1 around 3 p.m. Fire crews dispatched the department and determined that the fire was coming from a garage in the area of Wardwell Street and Fredrick Street. Upon arrival, fire crews say they observed heavy fire and smoke showing from two front-facing garage doors and a left side window at the rear of the two-family, three-story wood-frame structure.  …
