DEA, Norwalk Police Investigation Leads To 17 Warrants, Large Amount Of Drugs, Cash, Cops Say
A large amount of drugs and cash were seized, and numerous arrest warrants were served following an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Agency and local police in Fairfield County.
The warrants were executed in Norwalk and Darien on Monday, April 29, by the Norwalk Police, Stamford Police, Darien Police, US Marshals Service, and the Bridgeport Office of the DEA.
According to Lt. Tomasz Podgorski of the Norwalk Police, the busts were the result of a 6-month investigation into fentanyl trafficking in the greater Norwalk area.

Man Charged In Brutal Beating Murder Of Fairfield County Resident
After almost four years a Connecticut man has been charged in connection with a brutal beating murder of a Fairfield County man in front of a grocery store.
Luis Hernandez, age 44, of Waterbury, was arrested by US Marshals on a warrant on Wednesday, Jan. 4, and charged in the 2019 murder of Miguel Lopez, age 46, in Bridgeport, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management for Bridgeport.
The warrant had been obtained by the lead detective on the case, Bridgeport Det. Martin Heanue, Appleby said.

Out-Of-State Man Admits To Supplying Gang Members In Fairfield County With Firearms
A former Fairfield County resident has pleaded guilty to a single count of firearms trafficking in which local gangs were supplied with guns.
Stephfan Sanderson, age 24, aka “Birdy” and “Beans," made his plea in Bridgeport on Tuesday, Nov. 15, said Vanessa Roberts Avery, US Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
According to court documents and statements made in court, the FBI, ATF, DEA, US Marshals, and Bridgeport Police have been investigating multiple Bridgeport-based gangs whose members are involved in narcotics trafficking, murder, and other acts of violence.

Fairfield County Man Found Dead Following Police Standoff After Hiding For 2 Years
A Fairfield County man wanted for two years for allegedly luring a woman from Florida to his home and then sexually assaulting her, killed himself during a standoff with US Marshals in Canada.
Simon Bester, age 42, of Stamford, died last week in a vacation home just north of Quebec, said the Stamford Police Department.
According to Stamford Police, Bester fled to Canada in 2020, after his arrest in 2019 for luring an unsuspecting woman from Florida, then sexually assaulting her, and holding her against her will.
When Bester failed to appear in court, a warrant was issued, police said.…
Man Extradited From Hawaii For CT Homicide
More than 11 years after the crime, a suspect is facing charges for his involvement in the 2011 murder of a Connecticut man.
Andrew Spino, age 34, was extradited from Hawaii, where he was in jail on unrelated charges, by US Marshals to New Haven County in connection with the March 2011 murder of Isaia Hernandez in Ansonia.
The investigation into the homicide of Hernandez began on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at 6:10 p.m., when the Ansonia Police Department received a complaint of a person shot in front of the Xtra Mart on Wakelee Avenue, said Lt. Patrick Lynch of the Ansonia Police.

Man Charged With Assault, Carjacking In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County man was arrested for his involvement in a series of crimes that included assaulting and carjacking a woman at gunpoint.
Jose Francisco Ramos, age 52, of Bridgeport, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 9, by US Marshals for the incident which took place on Wednesday, Oct. 13, said Lt. Brian Weir of the Trumbull Police.
On Oct. 13, around 7:40 a.m., Trumbull Police received multiple calls about an armed carjacking at an office building on Corporate Drive, where a gun was displayed, Weir said.

Man Who Allegedly Forced Then-Girlfriend To Drive Him From CT Sentenced For Shooting At Cop
A 31-year-old man who reportedly threatened to kill his then-girlfriend if she didn't drive him from Connecticut to New Jersey has been sentenced in connection with shooting at a police officer after a traffic stop, authorities said.
Miguel Angel-Villegas, age 31, of New Haven, will serve 14 years in New Jersey State Prison.
After making the victim give a Tuckerton, NJ police officer a fake name during the Nov. 21, 2019, traffic stop, Angel-Villegas forced the woman -- at gunpoint -- to speed away, according to Ocean County, NJ Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

Suspect In Fairfield County Shooting Apprehended
A Fairfield County man wanted for a shooting in March was taken into custody by US Marshals with the help of local agencies.
Eugene McKnight, age 37, was arrested on a warrant around 5:30 a.m., Thursday, May 27, in Norwalk nabbed by the Marshals, along with the Norwalk Police Department, the Bridgeport Police, and the Connecticut Department of Probation.
The warrant for McKnight’s arrest stemmed from a shooting that occurred in Bridgeport on Saturday, March 20, said Sgt. Sofia Gulino of the Norwalk Police.

$5,000 Reward: 'Ladies Man' Is Suspect In Double-Murder Of CT Brothers
A $5,000 reward is being offered to anyone who can help police track down a double-murder suspect.
Russell T. Smith, of Windsor, is suspected in the killing of two brothers outside of a Bloomfield bar on Saturday, Feb. 22, police said.
The brothers who died are Aaron Walker, of Windsor, and Franklin Spencer, of East Hartford.
Smith faces two murder charges. Court has set bail at $5 million.
