Bridgeport Man Held On $1M Bail For June Homicide, Police Say
An area man has been arrested for the alleged June murder of a North Carolina man who grew up in the area and was back staying with his mother.
Eugene Brown, 35, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 16, by Bridgeport Police Officer Mark Martocchio for the Monday, June 24, shooting death of Anthony McKinstry, 30, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police.
"The arrest was the result of the outstanding work done by Detective Jorge Cintron and all the others that assisted in this case," said Lt. Christopher LaMaine.

Video: Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Witnesses Of Bridgeport Homicide
Bridgeport Police are asking the public for help in identifying persons of interest and potential suspects in the murder of a Monroe man.
Jose Perez-Ortiz, 41, was killed around 6 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 1, outside a store at Shelton Street and Noble Avenue, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police
According to Jones, video surveillance in the area shows Perez-Ortiz attempting to stab a man who then pulled a gun and fired, striking him.
First responders rushed Perez-Ortiz to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died, Jones said.

ID Released For Man Beaten To Death In Bridgeport
A 55-year-old man who was found beaten to death in Bridgeport has been identified by police.
Miguel Lopez, of Bridgeport, was found around 9:30 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at the Mambo Grocery at 731 Noble Ave., when Bridgeport Police responded for a report of an assault.
Once on the scene, cops found Lopez lying inside the store on the floor, said Terron Jones, a spokesperson for the Bridgeport Police.
Lopez, who could not communicate with officers, was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the assault, Jones said.

Cash For Gun: Here's When Bridgeport Buyback Is Scheduled
In an effort to remove dangerous guns from the streets of Bridgeport, the department will host a Gun Buyback program offering cash for the weapons.
The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, at the Bridgeport Police Department Community Services, 1395 Sylvan, Ave., Bridgeport, said Terron Jones, a spokesman for the department.
All types of guns are welcome including rifles, handguns and assault weapons, but they must work.
All guns dropped off should be secure in a bag or container and unloaded. No children should be brought to the event.
