Work began on Monday, Nov. 9 on the Saw Mill River Parkway near the Marble Avenue exit, where the roadway is prone to flooding in Westchester. During the eight-month project, the parkway will be reduced to one lane in both directions. The drainage improvements are part of a $115 million state-funded project that has focused on bridge and roadway improvements throughout Westchester. Roadwork To Affect Danbury Branch Train Service Roadwork is expected to impact service on the Danbury Branch for consecutive weekends as crews complete a road realignment project, the MTA announced. From Friday, July 19 through Sunday, July 21; and Friday, July 26 and Sunday, July 28, Connecticut State Department of Transportation crews will realign the intersection of Long Ridge Road and Simpaug Turnpike in Redding to correct a severe skew that has caused safety issues, primarily on the highway. Black Rock Turnpike Paving Project Starts There will be delays on a major area roadway for several days as contracting crews prepare for a road resurfacing project in Redding. The Connecticut State Department of Transportation has alerted the Town of Redding’s Highway Department that Black Rock Turnpike (Route 58) has will begin a paving project at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Motorists have been advised that they can expect delays and to seek alternate routes, when possible.
