A 24-year-old Connecticut paraprofessional has been accused of sexually assaulting two underage students and sending lewd, inappropriate texts, authorities said.
Dean Allen Jones, of Hartford, worked at STRIVE (Success Through Responsibility, Initiative, Vision, and Education) High School in West Hartford, police said.
School leaders contacted West Hartford police on Jan. 16 to report Jones had allegedly inappropriately touched two students, authorities said.

A 63-year-old man remains hospitalized with severe injuries months after a hit-and-run driver struck him at a busy New Haven intersection, police say. Now, authorities have arrested the woman they say was behind the wheel when it happened.
Jamira Perry, 27, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 26, following an extensive investigation into the November crash at Chapel and Temple streets, New Haven police said. She now faces multiple charges, including Evading Responsibility Resulting in Serious Injury, Assault 3rd of an Elderly Person, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a License.

Hit-Run Driver, 18, Arrested In Deadly CT Pedestrian Crash: Police
An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed one pedestrian and injured another in New Britain last December, authorities said.
Charlie Rodriguez surrendered to New Britain Police Headquarters on Thursday, Feb. 6, where he was processed without incident, New Britain spokesperson Rachel Zaniewski said.
Rodriguez is accused of fleeing the scene after striking two pedestrians near 237 Broad Street on Dec. 9, 2024, police said. One victim died, and the other was injured, officials said. Authorities did not release the name of the victim who died.

70+ Dead Animals Found Inside Vacant CT Home: Report
More than 70 dead animals were found inside a vacant Connecticut home on Wednesday morning, Jan. 29, according to authorities.
Authorities said they found the animals inside a home on River Street in Old Saybrook. A call to Old Saybrook police was not immediately returned.
The animals were a menagerie of rabbits, chickens, opossums, cats, a dove, and a skunk, among others, police said in a release. None of the animals were alive.

The death of a Putnam County woman in a tragic car crash in Connecticut has left her three well-loved dogs in need of a new home.
Diane K. Staab, age 62, was killed on Monday, Jan. 13, in a head-on crash on Ball Pond Road in New Fairfield, Connecticut, according to Connecticut State Police.
