Stew Leonard's Founder, Westport Resident Dies At 93, Leaving $600 Million Legacy
The creator of "one of the most famous food retailers in the world" died at 93 years old, leaving a world-record-breaking grocery store chain to his family.
Stew Leonard Sr., of Westport, Connecticut, died on Wednesday, April 26 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City after a brief illness, according to Stew Leonard's website.

Second Man Charged With Stealing $10K Of Designer Handbag In Greenwich
Police have arrested a second Westchester man in connection with the theft of more than $10,000 worth of handbags from a Greenwich Avenue store.
Gerald Smith, 48, of Mount Vernon, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 20, for the Jan. 15 theft, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.
On April 4, Greenwich Police arrested Joshua Spillman, 40, also of Mount Vernon, and charged him with organized retail theft greater than $10,000, conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny.
Smith was caught by Nassau County Police where he was arrested on unrelated charges.

For those out there hating their job, "Forbes" Magzine has come out with their Top 100 employers to work for and the No. 2 best place to work happens to have several locations right in the area.
Traders Joe's with its easy, breezy setting and apparently, bosses, came in second on the magazine's list that included an exhaustive survey nationally of employees including the likes of Google (#3), Costco (#5) and the main surprise, Michelin (which came in 33 last year) as the number one employer.

J.C. Penney says it will close eight stores in 2018, resulting in 480 job cuts.
This comes after the department store chain shuttered 140 stores in 2017.

Toys 'R' Us Will Shut Down 182 Stores, Including Four In Connecticut
Toys "R" Us, which filed for bankruptcy last fall, plans to close as many as 182 outlets, about one-fifth of its total number of stores across the country, according to a court filing late Tuesday.
A shift by customers to online shopping and increased competition led to the move, the Wayne, New Jersey-based company said.
