Dramatic Rescue: Trumbull Family Saved From Blaze By Off-Duty Firefighter Plowing Roads An off-duty Fairfield County firefighter saved a family of four and three dogs from a fire while plowing roadways in the area. The incident occurred in Fairfield County around 3:50 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 7 on Haviland Drive in Trumbull. Chief Greg Sanfanandre of the Long Hill Fire Company said Shaun Bogen, a town highway maintainer and firefighter with the same company, was working his snowplow when he noticed a garage fire. Raging Fire Heavily Damages Home In Trumbull A Trumbull home was heavily damaged Tuesday during a blaze that firefighters at first thought a resident was trapped inside. The blaze was reported to the Trumbull Center Fire Department around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday at 14 Chatham Drive for a possible structure fire, said officials with the Trumbull Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. While en route, responding units, including Long Hill and Nichols fire companies, were advised that an occupant may be trapped inside.
