A new round of thunderstorms will dampen the start of the weekend. Some of the storms in the afternoon and evening on Saturday, Aug. 3 may produce heavy rain and localized flooding. The day has started with a mix of sun and clouds. Saturday's high temperature will be in the low 80s with very high humidity of more than 90 percent making it feel a bit warmer. New Round Of Scattered Storms Will Bring Drenching Rain, Gusty Winds
Heat and humidity will once again create conditions ripe for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 30. Most of the day will be partly cloudy with a high temperature in the low 90s, and the heat index (the combination of the high temperature and the humidity) well into the upper 90s. Return Of Heat, Humidity Will Set Stage For Stormy Stretch Of Weather
The return of warmer air and humidity will create conditions that are ripe for unsettled weather and set the stage for a stretch of stormy weather this week. But the first few days of the week will be mainly dry, starting on Sunday, July 28, where the high temperature will be in the mid to upper 80s under sunny skies. The remnants of Hurricane Barry brought severe thunderstorms to the region that resulted in torrential downpours causing flooding, damaging winds, downed trees, and one confirmed fatality. As a powerful storm system from the remnants of post-tropical cyclone Barry moves through the area, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning is now in effect for parts of the area.
