How Stefanowski Has Closed In On Lamont In 'Real Nail-Biter' Governor's Race
A new public opinion poll released on Tuesday, Oct. 30 confirms that Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski has closed on Democrat Ned Lamont, making the race a statistical tossup. The Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters found that Lamont’s lead over Stefanowski has shrunk by half to four percentage points, within the margin of error. Seven Fairfield County Weeklies Sold To Hearst Newspaper Chain
One week after Hersam Acorn Newspapers (HAN) closed five of its week, the company announced Thursday that it was acquired by the Hearst newspaper chain. The acquisition means Ridgefield-based HAN's remaining selling seven weekly newspaper in Fairfield County will now be owned and operated by Hearst. The deal - financial terms of which were not disclosed - transfers the print and digital assets of The Ridgefield Press, The Wilton Bulletin, New Canaan Advertiser, The Shelton Herald, The Darien Times, The Milford Mirror and The Trumbull Times. New Sacred Heart Poll Shows Tight Margin In Lamont-Stefanowski Race
After two debates, the race for governor continues to be close, according to a new poll of registered Connecticut voters. The election is on Nov. 6. The latest Sacred Heart University/Hearst Connecticut Media Group Poll found Democrat Ned Lamont of Greenwich leading Republican Bob Stefanowski of Madison by about 6 percentage points. The telephone survey of 501 likely voters between Sept. 12 and 17 indicates a slight increase over the 4 percent lead Lamont held shortly after the Aug. 14 Democratic Party primary. Sacred Heart is hosting two gubernatorial debates: Republican candidates will debate on Tuesday, July 24 and the Democratic candidates will debate on Thursday, July 26. Separate primary election debates will take place starting at 2 p.m. at the Martire Business & Communications Center on the campus of Sacred Heart University at 5401 Park Ave. in Fairfield.
