As viewers mourn the loss of CBS New York's Emmy Award-winning meteorologist Elise Finch, people are beginning to come together to help support the daughter she now leaves behind. An Emmy Award-winning meteorologist at CBS New York has died unexpectedly. Elise Finch, who was 51 years old, died over the weekend at a local hospital, the station announced. The cause of death has not been determined. Finch was an on-air fixture at WCBS for 16 years, joining the station in 2007. Maryland police on Monday found the body of Maeve Kennedy Townsend McKean, the 40-year-old granddaughter of Robert F. Kennedy, who’d gone missing with her 8-year-old son in Chesapeake Bay late last week. McKean's body was recovered 25 feet of water about 2½ miles south of her mother’s Shady Side residence following a search involving aviation and underwater imaging sonar technology, police and dive crew members, Maryland Natural Resources Police announced late Monday. Staples HS Welcomes New Principal
The Westport Board of Education has named a veteran educator to take over at the helm of Staples High School. The Board announced on Thursday that Stafford W. Thomas, Jr. will succeed Principal James D’Amico, who announced earlier this year that he was resigning to take over at his hometown high school in New Fairfield. Thomas will take over on July 1, when D’Amico’s resignation officially takes effect. He was unanimously approved by the Board at a meeting on Thursday, June 20. When Norwalk High School senior Emilia Cuevas found out she had won a $100,000 college scholarship, the young woman said she was speechless. Cuevas, this year’s winner of the 23rd annual Kevin M. Eidt Memorial Scholarship for Norwalk High School students, named after Kevin M. Jay Michael Sirois of Westport died suddenly April 17. He was 37 years old. He was born in Hartford to Veronica Lorraine Falana and the late James Thomas Sirois. He graduated with honors from Fairfield Preparatory High School in 1999, and proudly graduated from Georgetown University in 2003 with a BA in Literature.
