Former Fairfield Superintendent Sentenced To Prison For Environmental Crimes
A former public works superintendent in Fairfield County has been sentenced to prison for committing environmental crimes and conspiring with others to defraud. Scott Bartlett, age 61, of Fairfield, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Friday, Dec. 1, suspended after five years and five years of probation, said Chief State’s Attorney Patrick J. Griffin. As part of his plea agreement, Bartlett, the disgraced superintendent for Fairfield, is also required to make restitution payments of $1 million to the town for the harm caused. Delivery Driver Shot During Attempted Robbery At Fairfield County Auto Dealer
A delivery driver was shot in the stomach during an attempted robbery in Fairfield County. The incident took place around 1 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 14, at Miller Nissan in the Town of Fairfield. Officers responded to the Cumberland Farms on Kings Highway after receiving a call that a delivery man had stumbled into the store after being shot at the dealership located at 930 Kings Highway East, according to Lt. Students Walk Out Of Class At High Schools In Fairfield County After Racist Post
Groups of high school students in Fairfield County walked out of class to protest recent racial incidents that came to a head following a racist social media post earlier this month. On Monday, May 24, students at Fairfield Warde High School orchestrated a mass walkout of hundreds of students that were also in collaboration with students across town at Ludlowe High School. Shelter In Place Order Lifted For Fairfield County School After No Weapon Found
A shelter-in-place order for a Fairfield County school that believed a weapon may have been brought to school has been lifted after a police search. Students at Walter Fitzgerald Campus in Fairfield were told to shelter in place on Thursday, May 13, after school officials called the Fairfield Police Department to search the school when fears surfaced that a student may have a weapon at the school, said Andrea Clark, director of communications at Fairfield Public Schools. Sally Dorothea Toth Garrick, 103, died on Sept. 22 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC. Born in Fairfield, she was the last of 10 children born to Hungarian parents, Joseph and Suzanna Kanotz Toth. She enjoyed swimming and golf. She married architect Joseph E. Garrick in 1940 and remained married for 65 years until his death in 2004. Sally and Joe traveled to various European countries on several occasions. Woman With Active Warrant Taken Into Custody In Wilton
A 25-year-old woman was arrested by Wilton Police on an active warrant while being interviewed in connection with another case. Rachel Ragone, of Kings Park, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 6, after police learned she was wanted an active warrant for failure to appear for automobile charges in 2016 in Fairfield, said Wilton Police Lt. Robert Kluk. She was processed and released on $1,000 bond. Ragone is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 16.
