Firefighters in one Fairfield County town were kept busy over a 12-hour period with a pair of three-alarm fires. Danbury firefighters attacked the first fire around 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 9 when the department was alerted to a kitchen fire at 135 Main St., at the Igreja Evangelica Bethel Church. Quick-Thinking Fire Chief Uses Fork-Lift To Save Fairfield County Business From Fire
A quick-thinking off-duty assistant fire chief saved a fire from happening in the loading dock of a Fairfield County business when a fire started in the engine of a pickup truck. The incident began around 7:46 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, when a 911 call was received by the Danbury Fire Department that a truck was on fire in the load dock area of Omaha Beef on Maple Avenue in Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director. A Fairfield County home was heavily damaged during a fire overnight as snow continued to come down in the area that received more than 18 inches of snow. The fire took place around 11:08 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 6 Sage Road, in the Lake Waubeeka area of Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director for the Danbury Fire Department. One person is in critical condition following a three-alarm fire at a Fairfield County townhouse. The fire started around 8:15 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Sterling Townhouse Complex off of Nabby Road in Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communication coordinator for the Danbury Fire Department. More than two dozen people were displaced after a two-alarm fire broke out at a three-story apartment building on Main Street in Danbury on the night of Thursday, March 21. Firefighters responded to two separate two-alarm fires within just a few hours, one of which occurred at a Danbury restaurant. Danbury firefighters only had to walk across the street to fight a fire at a local deli after a person came into the station and told them the restaurant was on fire.
