Dumas, who represents the 2nd District, submitted his resignation through the Town Clerk's office with a letter, then sent a second letter within a matter of an hour, the Stratford Star reported.

The problem is no one knows if he is allowed to remain a council member after effectively resigning, or if the second letter withdrawing his resignation is allowed, said the Stratford Star.

In his resignation letter, the Republican said he was resigning due to family and professional commitments.
