TTown Attorney Chris Hodgson ruled that the resignation will stand because when a resignation is given to the town clerk, especially if it's "effective immediately," it cannot be withdrawn even though Dumas tried to withdraw his within two hours, said the Connecticut Post.

Dumas had not spoken with town officials though on Facebook talked of "challenges to face at home," the Connecticut Post reported.

Dumas' spot will be voted on in November, Startford officials told the Connecticut Post.
