STRATFORD, Conn. -- Bridgeport is considering selling Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford because the city is struggling financially as its owner, the Connecticut Post reported.
The airport operates "at a loss of around $500,000" annually, minus what Bridgeport spends for upkeep and improvements to the airport, John Ricci, Bridgeport’s director of public facilities, told the Connecticut Post.
Buildings at the airport are more than 50 years old, he told the Connecticut Post.
Ricci and Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim's administration are considering a sale to the state or a private entity, said the Connecticut Post.
