Officers from the Drug Enforcement Agency, assisted by the Milford Police Department Tactical Unit, attempted to apprehend Anthony Parowski, 29, who is suspected of selling heroin in Milford and surrounding towns, police said.
Parowski, of 45 Marsh Way, threw a large amount of heroin on the ground outside the hotel as he ran, police said.
He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, police said.
Milford police detectives used K9 officer Cedar, a trained narcotics detection dog, to recover the evidence that Parowski discarded, police said.
K9 Cedar located 190 bags of packaged heroin and one larger bag containing over 70 grams of heroin, police said.
The recovered heroin has an approximate street value of $15,000 to $20,000. Agents also seized a large amount of cash from Parowski that was proceeds of his illegal drug operation, police said.
Parowski is charged with sale of narcotics and was held on $100,000 bond for a court appearance on Friday.
