The Stratford Police Narcotics, Vice and Intelligence Unit received many complaints of ongoing drug activity at the Stony Brook Bar and Restaurant at 825 Success Ave. in Stratford, Stratford police Capt. Frank Eannotti said.
An investigation determined the bar's owner, Angelo Recine, along with bartender, Laurie Herb, were trafficking cocaine from the bar, police said. Detectives conducted numerous buys of cocaine from the bar, Eannotti said.
As a result, search warrants were executed on Thursday, Oct. 12, at the bar as well as Herb's and Recine's residences, he said.
Detectives seized cocaine packaged for sale, about $3,500 in U.S. currency, Items used to prepare and package narcotics for street sale and suspected cocaine, Eannotti said.
A total packaged weight of approximately 4 ounces of cocaine was found both at the Recine residence and inside the bar, he said.
Recine, 68, of Bridgeport was charged with a total of three counts of sales of cocaine and one count of operating a drug factory. He was released on $25,000 bond.
Herb, 51, of Stratford was charged with a total of four counts of sales of cocaine. He was released on $10,000 bond.
Each is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Court on Oct. 20.
