A 47-year-old man was caught red-handed by cops attempting to steal construction equipment from a work site near an area shopping center, police said.
Members of the Milford Police Department on patrol at approximately 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 spotted suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Aldi’s shopping plaza on Plains Road.
According to police, the officers set up surveillance and saw a man enter a restricted construction site in the area by cutting a hole in the fence. The man - later identified as Milford resident Dustin Ruocco - was then caught removing several high-end pieces of construction equipment. He then returned to his vehicle and was taken into custody by the surveilling officers.
Ruocco was arrested without incident and charged with burglary, larceny, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. He is currently being held on a $25,000 and is due to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
