Michael “Buddha” Catchings is charged with first-degree manslaughter, first-degree assault, attempted murder, criminal possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a permit, unlawful discharge and threatening.
He is accused of shooting and killing Raenetta Catchings in front of her Stratford home just after midnight on Aug. 13 and shooting and wounding her boyfriend, police said.

The shooting occurred after a family birthday party at the home, according to the Post. Raenetta Catchings and her boyfriend left the house and argued outside, the Connecticut Post said.
The argument worsened, and Michael Catchings tried to protect his niece but shot her accidentally and took off, the Connecticut Post said. He was arrested later after turning himself in to police.
