Stratford Library Sets Dates For Mobile Career Coach Sessions

STRATFORD, Conn. -- The CTWorks Career Coach -- a career center on wheels designed to deliver career services and training opportunities throughout Connecticut -- will continue making visits to the Stratford Library through 2016.

The Career Coach delivers free services to low-wage workers and job seekers in southwestern Connecticut who are unable to get the services at local career centers due to lack of transportation, childcare or employment schedules. 

The Career Coach features

  • computer workshops,
  • 10 computer workstations,
  • 10 wireless laptops,
  • high-speed Internet access,
  • a 42-inch plasma TV the instructor uses for training,
  • an interview room,
  • an ADA-compliant lift, and
  • a workstation for people with disabilities.

In 2016, the workshops will be held in Stratford once a month, on a Monday near the end of the month. Here are the dates -- and specific subjects, if any -- of the workshops:

  • Feb. 29
  • March 28 -- Microsoft Excel
  • April 25 -- Microsoft Word
  • May 23
  • June 20 -- resumes
  • July 25
  • Aug. 22
  • Sept. 26 -- Microsoft Excel
  • Oct. 24
  • Nov. 21
  • Dec. 19

Career Coach workshops are free and open to job seekers 16 years and up. Basic computer skills are helpful but not required. All workshops are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The CTWorks Career Coach will be on-site in front of the Stratford Library, 2203 Main St., in Stratford, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on each date.
