Stratford Clergy Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. At Service

STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Stratford Clergy Association is sponsoring a worship service celebrating the life and work of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

It will be held Sunday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m., at the First Congregational Church of Stratford, 2301 Main St.

The Rev. Simeon Law, pastor of Stratford United Methodist Church, will give the sermon and a number of area clergy will participate. 

Special music will be provided by Joe Utterback, music director at First Congregational Church. The service is free and open to the public. 

Donations will be used to fund scholarships at Stratford’s two high schools. 

The Stratford Clergy Association annually awards four scholarships to graduating seniors; two at Stratford High School and two at Bunnell High School. 

The scholarships are in honor of King and are awarded to students who best show his values in their lives. For more information, call 203-378-2644.
