Flooding was reported on I-95 southbound at Exit 30 in Stratford and the exit ramp is closed, according to the state Department of Transportation.
In Stamford, a fallen tree was blocking the road near 2428 Long Ridge Road, police said. Drivers are urge to use Old Long Ridge Road as an alternate route.
The Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday for Fairfield County, the National Weather Service said.
The flooding may occur along Long Island Sound with high tides about 2 feet above normal at midday Sunday.
Minor to moderate flooding was occurring along vulnerable roads and adjacent properties at high tide at about 11:15 a.m.
The precipitation was continuing Sunday after heavy overnight and early morning rain. A total of 1 to 2 inches of rain is possible along with thunderstorms.
The heavy rain will taper off by Sunday afternoon with temperatures rising into the upper 50s and even low 60s.
The bad weather was contributing to power outages. The following outages were reported at 11:30 a.m. by Eversource and United Illuminating;
- Newtown: 216 customers or 2% of the town
- Redding: 43 or 1% of the town
- Weston: 17 or 1 less than % of the town
- Monroe: 33 or 1% of the town
- Westport: 13 or less than 1% of the town
- Brookfield: 1 or less than 1% of the town
- Stamford: 2 or less than 1% of the town
- Bridgeport: 10 or less than 1% of the town
- Easton: 26 or 1% of the town
- Fairfield: 57 or 1% of the town
- Shelton: 710 or 4% of the town
- Stratford: 787 or 3% of the town
In Bridgeport, a multi-car motor vehicle accident on the Route 8 southbound ramp to I-95 northbound had closed the ramp.
The weather will take a turn Sunday night, as temperates drop into the 30s as a cold front moves through, the weather service said. Monday will be sunny, with a high near 36 degrees and wind chills between 20 and 25.
