Matthew Mills, 32, of New York, was charged with breach of peace and interfering with police after confronting and harassing a sister of slain Sandy Hook teacher Victoria Soto at a benefit road race on Nov 7.
His lawyer said Mills was exercising his constitutional rights, the Post said. But police said he shoved a photo of Vicki Soto at her younger sister, Jillian, said the Sandy Hook shooting was a lie, videotaped her reaction and refused to leave her alone, the Post said.
Bridgeport Superior Court Judge William Holden continued the case, which is likely to go to trial, to March 2, the Post said.
Victoria Soto, a Stratford native, was killed while protecting her first-grade students from a gunman at the Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012. Six educators and 20 students died in that mass shooting.
Nearly 3,000 runners took part in the third annual Vicki Soto 5K race in November. Organized by her cousin, Stratford resident and Fairfield police officer James Wiltsie, the race raised an estimated $100,000 for the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, which is used for scholarships.
