STRATFORD, Conn. – Mosquitoes trapped earlier this month at Beacon Point in Stratford have tested positive for the West Nile virus, according to the Stratford Star website.
The Stratford Health Department warned Tuesday that town residents should “double-down on taking precautions” against mosquito bites by wearing long sleeves and pants and using insect repellent, according to the Stratford Star.
Health officials said conditions this summer have made for a larger than normal crop of mosquitoes, according to the Star.
