original story: STRATFORD, Conn. — A man was struck by an eastbound Metro-North train near the Stratford station just past noon on Friday, a spokesman confirmed.

The condition of the man, described as a trespasser on the tracks, was not known, according to Metro-North spokesman Nancy Gamerman. He was struck at 12:09 p.m. Friday, she said.

Train service was stopped on the eastbound side between Bridgeport and New Haven with the train involved in the accident still stopped on the tracks with passengers aboard at about 12:45 p.m., Gamerman said.

The train involved was the 10:34 a.m. out of Grand Central headed for New Haven, she said.

Some limited westbound train service was continuing through the area, where MTA police and investigators are on the scene, she said.

Train passengers should expect delays in the Metro-North service in that area.
