“We’re very fortunate to have a person of Sheri’s expertise on staff at the Stratford Library”, said Stratford Library Board President Judith Hampel. “We look forward to working with her as the Stratford Library continues to grow and provide the most current and reliable services to its patrons.”
Szymanski is replacing Barbara Blosveren, who retired this month after nine years as director.
Before replacing Blosveren, Szymanski worked as assistant director beginning in 2007. As assistant director, she was responsible for human resource management, library budget planning, facilities management, marketing, branding, development and community outreach.
Szymanski was also the head of Access Services for the Westport Public Library.
Szymanski received a Bachelor's of Science from Sacred Heart University and a Master's Degree in Library Science from Southern Connecticut University.
She is a current member of the American Library Association, the Connecticut Library Association and the Fairfield County Library Administrators Group. Szymanski also currently serves on the Stratford Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
The library will hold a public welcoming reception on March 6 at 1:30 p.m.
