STRATFORD, Conn. — A 17-year-old Stratford violin virtuoso will perform at the first-ever Emerging Artists Concert at Pequot Library in Southport.

Cameron Chase, who studies at The Juilliard Pre-College Program, will take the stage at 7 p.m. for the Nov. 28 concert, which is free and open to the public.

Chase, who took up the violin when he was five, has played Henri Vieuxtemps’ “Violin Concerto No. 5 with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra and, in 2014, he won the American Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition in Fairfield.

The homeschooler has played with numerous chamber groups concentrating on the classical repertoire.

Pequot Library is partnering with Music for Youth for the new concert series. Each participating artist is a developing and extraordinary talent who is either attending a music conservatory program or in the process of applying.

Artists for the 2018 Emerging Artists Concert series will be selected from the finalists of the Music for Youth Marianne Liberatore Scholarship Competition. Music for Youth was the creation of Marianne Liberatore and a few individuals with the goal and passion of bringing classical music, professionally performed, into the lives of young people in Fairfield County.

Pequot Library offers these world-class musicians a stage to showcase their talents to the local community. Light refreshments will be served.
