St. Vincent's Brings Mobile Mammography Van To Stratford

STRATFORD, Conn. – The St. Vincent's SWIM Women's Imaging Center will offer free and low-cost digital mammography screenings for women age 40 and older in Stratford Wednesday and Saturday, June 25.

Dates and locations:

  • Wednesday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sterling House, 2283 Main St., Stratford
  • Saturday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to noon at Stratford South End Expo, Sedgewick Avenue and Woodend Road, Stratford

No prescription needed but appointments are required for this exam. Those who have insurance should bring their card at the time of the visit. To schedule an appointment, call the St. Vincent's SWIM Women's Imaging Center at 203-576-5500.

The mobile mammography program is made possible through St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound, Connecticut's leader in cancer education, prevention screenings and support services in the area.

St. Vincent's SWIM Across the Sound is a charitable not-for-profit organization operated by the St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation of Bridgeport. Since 1987, it has had a unique niche helping individuals and their families struggling through the difficult changes cancer brings with it. The program serves approximately 30,000 people annually by providing more than 45 programs, including cancer education, screening, prevention and support programs at low- or no-cost for the uninsured and underinsured. 

In addition, the program helps individual cancer patients on a case-by-case basis with specific financial assistance, funding of wigs and prostheses, medication assistance, free transportation to treatments and appointments, day-care scholarships, support groups and more.
